Spring-Summer Recreation Program

Kindergarten to 8th grade

OVERVIEW

The Recreational program is designed for players that are just beginning their journey in soccer, or would like to continue their journey in a fun and safe environment. We accept all levels in technical and tactical abilities with hopes of them improving those skills throughout their participation in this program. Our aim for the Recreational program is to provide players with a fun and inviting experience while learning the game of soccer.

Please note: This is a separate program from the
Junior Academy and TOTs programs that are offered.

WHEN DOES THE SEASON START AND END?

  • Team Practice Days: Practices will start as early as city fields open up (late April / early May). * This is only if the team has a coach *
  • Spring Program Game Days: May 10, 17, 31; June 7, 21, 28
  • There will be no games taking place the weekend of June 13-15th due to LSC Father's Day Cup Tournament
  • Games are primarily on Saturdays and some alternate Sundays if needed due to weather/field conditions.
  • Some schedule conflicts may require a double-header in a single weekend
  •  All Practice times and locations are scheduled independently at the discretion of the coach.  Coaches are encouraged to work with the best available days/times for their individual team/families.

FAQs for REC LEAGUES

  • If multiple divisions are available for my child, what division should I register them for?

For the Fall season you will register them for the grade they will be entering into that fall.

For the Spring season you should register them for their CURRENT grade. Do not register them for the grade they will be in, in the future. If they are not in grade-school yet, you should register them for the TOTs program.

  • How will teams be formed?

Teams are formed based on grade level. We try our best to put everyone with their classmates and friends but this is not a guarantee. There are no tryouts for the Recreation Program.

Every effort will be made to honor friend requests.

Please see buddy request information listed on the program page.

  • Will Junior Academy players and Rec League players be on the same team?

No they will not. Rec League players will have their own team and coach while Junior Academy players will have their own training sessions and game day rosters.

  • Should I register my child for both the Rec Soccer League and Junior Academy?

NO - there are direct schedule conflicts between both Rec League and Junior Academy during Spring/Summer/Fall.

Our winter programs are an exception, where schedule allow for multiple programs.  Please reach out to jvoeller@lakevillesoccer.org for further clarification if needed.

  • Will Junior Academy have multiple teams or one team?

Our Junior Academy program will train with professional coaches once a week within their age group and gender.  Each player will be assigned a specific team at the start of Fall, Spring, Summer seasons.

  • What is the Game Format for LSC's Recreational League?

The Recreation Program follows the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) guidelines for the game format and playing time (equal playing time).

    • (4v4) with 2x20 mins halves and five-minute halftime for the Kindergarten - 2nd Grade groups
    • (7v7 with GK’s) with 2x25 mins halves and five-minute halftime for 3rd-5th-grade groups
    • (9v9 or 11v11 with GK's) 2x30 min halves and 5-minute halftime for 6th-8th grade groups.

  • What does is mean to be a Volunteer Coach?

Volunteer coaches are key to the success of the program. We need volunteers! Volunteer coaches will be expected to coach the team practice once a week within their availability. They will also be expected to coach their team's games on the weekends as well.

Without adequate volunteers, rosters will be limited, and children may be turned away. If you are interested in coaching, please indicate when you register your child. A preseason coaching clinic is offered to all volunteer coaches as well as a coaching guide to help coaches create a fun environment where kids can improve their skills.
